KMD3

Duration: 01.01.2021 – 31.12.2023
Aim: The project aimed to develop and provide production services for storing, accessing, securing data and managing metadata, as well as integrating solutions for processing large and complex data volumes on the basis of a distributed e-infrastructure. The project involved the integration of analytical platforms and tools in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence in the data infrastructure and tight integration of the data infrastructure with HPC and HTC systems in HPC centers in order to efficiently process large and complex volumes and data sets.

EuroHPC PL

Duration: 01.01.2021 – 31.12.2023
Aim: The project aimed to build a specialised general-purpose infrastructure for large-scale computing, enabling the undertaking of research challenges in key areas from the point of view of Polish society, the scientific community and the economy. The project was the Polish stage of development of the EuroHPC program. Cyfronet was the project coordinator and the leader of the Consortium.
In addition:

  1. As part of the "Laboratory of modeling and parallel data processing in a pre-exascale environment", Cyfronet coordinated the following tasks: I.1. "Supercomputing platform", I.2. "Platform of specialised accelerators" and I.4. "E-Infrastructure Integration Platform",
  2. As part of the "Laboratory of hybrid computing applications", Cyfronet coordinated task II.1. "E-Quantum machine learning platform",
  3. As part of the "Laboratory for the use of supercomputers in medicine", Cyfronet coordinated the following tasks: III.1. "Modeling platform for personalised medicine" and III.2. "Simulation platform for radiotherapy",
  4. As part of the "Laboratory of energy efficiency and computing HPC software", Cyfronet coordinated the following tasks: IV.2. "Massively Parallel Software Platform", IV.3. "HPC software acceleration platform", IV.4. "Platform for planning multi-stage calculations with the use of quantum accelerators" and IV.6. "Pilot platform for efficient domain applications".

EPOS TCS AH PL

Duration: 01.01.2021 – 31.12.2023
Aim: The TCS AH (Thematic Core Services Anthropogenic Hazard) project, a thematic node for anthropogenic threats concerns the activity of the partners of the EPOS TCS AH consortium under EPOS ERIC (European Plate Observing System), of which Poland is a member. EPOS is a research infrastructures integration program that serves the purpose of multidisciplinary research on processes taking place in the Earth's crust. TCS AH represents one of the ten domains in EPOS. The mission of the TCS AH consortium, consisting of 12 institutions from 8 countries, is to integrate resources, data and applications for the study of seismic hazards and other geophysical threats caused by the exploitation of earth resources.

PIONIER-LAB
Duration: 11.12.2020 – 31.12.2023
Aim: The project involved the construction of unique research laboratories based on the national PIONIER fiber optic network. The main goal of the project was to build and made available platforms for scientific units, entrepreneurs and other entities interested in conducting scientific research and development works based on a new, nationwide research infrastructure. The following laboratories were built under the project:

  • Laboratory of Innovative Network Technologies,
  • The Distributed Time and Frequency Laboratory,
  • Smart Kampus as Smart City Lab,
  • Regional "Living" Innovation Laboratories inspired by ICT,
  • Cloud Services Laboratory,
  • Laboratory of Multiscale Simulations, Laboratory and e-training services,
  • Pre-incubation Laboratory.

PRACE-LAB 2

Duration: 01.07.2020 – 31.12.2023
Aim: The direct goal of the PRACE-LAB2 project was to create a specialised e-infrastructure for data processing, enabling the optimal use of specialised and new generation services to stimulate new areas of application in science, economy, education and social life. It will be a distributed structure created by a consortium consisting of 5 scientific institutions, whose leader is the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences - Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center. The implementation of the PRACE-LAB2 project included the creation of the following laboratories for the construction of specialised services and applications: 1) HPC e-infrastructure laboratory, 2) Laboratory of service platforms, 3) Laboratory of next-generation computing services, 4) Laboratory of large-scale data analysis.

EPOS PL +

Duration: 1.03.2020 - 31.12.2023 
Aim:  As part of the project, the functionalities of the EPOS-PL research infrastructure were increased. A new Research Infrastructure Center (Center for Research Infrastructure of Satellite Data - CIBDS) was established, a new test site (Geophysical Safety System for mining protection pillars) was created, and the WNiP was established: "IT Platform for Research with Artificial Intelligence Methods (EPOS-AI)". The potential of the Center for Research Infrastructure of Analytical Laboratories was significantly increased through the participation of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and other Research Infrastructure Centers was additionally supported.

PRACE-LAB

Aim: The goal of the project was to create computing infrastructure services and data storage services for the purposes of the PRACE project, within six dedicated laboratories: 1) HPC and cloud processing laboratory, 2) Laboratory of access to processing infrastructure, 3) Service management and monitoring laboratory, 4) Laboratory of data management services, 5) Laboratory of distributed data management and transparent access to data, 6) Infrastructure security laboratory.

EPOS-PL

Aim: The project aimed at building the national research infrastructure for solid Earth Science and its integration with international databases and services implemented under the European Plate Observing System (EPOS). The research infrastructure of the EPOS program was based on existing national research infrastructures, managed and financed by national communities. The EPOS program assumes that national research infrastructures was integrated into EPOS National Centers. These centers provide dcomprehensively unified data from a specific field (e.g. seismology, geodesic, geological, etc.).

PAUart

Duration: 01.07.2018 - 18.12.2021
Aim: The main objective of the project was digitization, preparation of descriptions of digitized data and the final publication of digitalisers on the PAUart platform. 13 140 new records were published on this platform, including graphics from the modern period, valuable in artistic and scientific terms, localised in the Print Room of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAAS) and 19th and 20th century photographs from the Lanckoronski Phototheca of the PAAS and from the Archives of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) and PAAS in Krakow. Shared objects are poorly known or completely unknown to Polish and foreign researchers, and they will have an impact on the development of research in many scientific disciplines, including history, history of art, archeology, ethnography, and history of architecture.

Sat4Envi

Aim: The main objective of the project was to provide satellite data coming from the Sentinel satellites of the Copernicus network. The project created an infrastructure for automatically downloading data directly from satellites, their secure storage and sharing for the purposes of science, administration and training.

Gliomed

Duration: 01.04.2017 - 31.12.2020
Aim: Gliomas are incurable despite progress in surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Specific diagnosis of the type of glioma, early detection of molecular progression, characterization of critical mutations or epigenetic characteristics in individual patient give hope to improve treatment results. We developed a comprehensive diagnostic test based on analysis of the material obtained from the tumor via surgery or biopsy. This led to a liquid biopsy-type method based on tumor cfDNA in blood, which is a quick and minimally invasive alternative to biopsy.
The results contribute to better understanding of glioma biology and lead to identification of new molecular biomarkers. The proposed diagnostic test  improves treatment results by therapy individualization and liquid biopsy  improves safety, comfort and enable to monitor disease course and treatment in a new way.

PLGrid NG

Aim: The project aimed at integration of new groups of researchers from the next 14 disciplines with the PL-Grid national computing infrastructure. Thanks to deployment of new domain grids, research teams from these areas were able to faster obtain results of their caluclations and to better integrate with the national computing infrastructure for science.

Construction of the ACC Cyfronet AGH machine hall

Aim: The project aimed to construct a new facility for realization of the ACK Cyfronet AGH tasks, in particular, to share computational power. These resources were made available free of charge to employees of academic institutions, especially from the Malopolska voivodeship (universities, research institutes, research and development centers, Polish Academy of Sciences units).

POWIEW

Aim: The POWIEW project provided world-class High Performance Computing (HPC) systems for Polish Science, enabling research at previously unavailable scales. The POWIEW infrastructure represents a significant evolution of computational resources available in Polish HPC centers which in the last few years has been dominated by clusters. The research infrastructure within POWIEW is open to all researchers and their collaborators with potential for high international impact in their field of study.

Aim: The basis for the construction of PIONIER network was the program titled "PIONIER: Polish Optical Internet – Advanced Applications, Services and Technologies for the Information Society." The program was approved in 2000 and adopted for implementation in the following year by the Polish Committee for Scientific Research (KBN). The PIONIER program initiated a series of actions (later joined by programs such as ePoland, Gates of Poland, etc.) in order to build the basic mechanisms of the Information Society, enabling Poland equal partnership with other countries.
