The CrossGrid Kick-off Conference - EUCGC1 - will be held in Cracow from March 17 (Sunday) to March 20 (Wednesday). The Conference will officially start activity of the EU CrossGrid Project and will give an opportunity to all participants to define precisely their work.

The novelty of the CrossGrid consists in extension of Grid to applications which are layered, compute and data intensive, with a person in a processing loop. Our Project aims to elaborate methodology, generic application architecture, programming environment and Grid services and to test them.

The purposes of this Conference are

• to gather together software requirements specifications
• to agree about the architecture of the CrossGrid
• to define precisely future activity of each task of the Project
• to synchronise tasks of the Project
• to bring together as many people engaged in the CrossGrid as possible
• to enable people working in the framework of the CrossGrid to exchange ideas and experience
• to get necessary knowledge about Globus and DataGrid middleware which is planned to be used in our Project
• to celebrate...

In the last day of the Conference we plan to organise a special session for CrossGrid Scientific/Industrial Forum.
