See my CV (the Polish version is more extensive) to learn more on my doings over 40 years of my presence in the world of science. With closing the habilitation procedure, which took place in April 2014, my academic career entered a new stage. Few can foresee whither their road will lead them till they come to its end (Tolkien, The Two Towers). Here are few main mileposts on my professional road.

1950   I was born in Cracow.

1968   After graduation from the Nowodworski High School in my hometown, I began to study sociology at the Jagiellonian University.

1973   As soon as I completed my first studies with MA degree, I started working (as of April 1) in the Institute of Sociology (before the doctorate as instructor and researcher).

1975   I obtained my second Master's degree from the same university, now in mathematics.

1982   The PhD degree (thesis: Structural Balance Model. Theory of Signed Graphs and Its Applications in the Social Sciences; advisor: Klemens Szaniawski; see the diploma) was awarded to me by the Jagiellonian University in September 1982. Afterwards I worked for the Institute of Sociology incessantly until September 30, 2006 (as assistant professor from October 1, 1982 to September 30, 2003; later as a lecturer).

2006   Cracow Pedagogical University became my next workplace as of October 1. When my full-time job contract as assistant professor expired (by the end of September 2008), I continued teaching in the same school as external lecturer.

2013   As of April 1, I am again employed in the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology as assistant professor. Later that year I submitted my application to the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles to start the habilitation procedure according to the new regulations.

2014   The procedure, started by the CCADT in October 2013 and continued at the Philosophical Faculty, Jagiellonian University, ended on April 17 during a regular session of the Faculty Council. The Council voted for awarding me the degree "doktor habilitowany", the degree that a PhD holder needs in Poland in order to get promoted to the position of associate professor. The majority (63 out of 68 members, full or associate professors, who attended the session) followed a recommendation arrived at unanimously by the 7-person team (comprising 3 reviewers) appointed January 7 by the CCADT to examine my academic achievements. The documentation (in Polish) of the habilitation procedure, including 3 reviews, can be read on the CCADT's website (click here and locate my name on the alphabetic list of applicants in the social sciences domain). My autoreferat (an account of scholarly accomplishments written by the applicant himself) is placed on my website along with its more concise English version.
